The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 7, 2012 at Wilbert Hall A.M.E. Church, Georgia Highway 128 North, Oglethorpe, Georgia, where Rev. Jerold Harris is pastor. Rev. Kenneth Gouch will officiate. Interment will follow in Rocky Mount Cemetery, Georgia Highway 127, Garden Valley Community, Ideal, Georgia.
Mr. Clarence Bailey, Sr. was born August 18, 1918 to the late Oscar Bailey and Lee Anna Troutman Bailey in Ideal, Macon County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Oscar Willis Bailey, Billy Lee Bailey and Mattie R. Shoats. He was educated in the public school system of Macon County. At an early age, he joined the band of Christian believers at Wilbert Hall AME Church where he served faithfully as a Steward. After many dedicated years of service, he retired as a Farmer.
In 1939, he was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Fairy Lee Griffin. To this union, two sons were born. On Monday afternoon, December 3, 2012, the death Angel sealed the lips of our beloved Mr. Clarence Bailey, Sr. at Montezuma Healthcare and Rehab Center, Montezuma, Georgia. A precious one from us is gone; a voice we love is still. A place is vacant in our hearts that can nevermore be filled.
He leaves to cherish his memories his two loving and devoted sons, Clarence Bailey, Jr., Atlanta, Georgia and Billy Bailey (Joyce), College Park, Georgia; three devoted grandchildren, Maxine White (Johnny), Morrow, Georgia, Tasha Bailey, Ellenwood, Georgia and Latoya Bailey, College Park, Georgia; five loving great grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Corine Sparks, Montezuma, Georgia, Beulah Griffin, Ideal, Georgia and Mary Rucker, Atlanta, Georgia; his brother-in-law, L. J. Griffin (Corine), Ideal, Georgia; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
