Mrs. Norvis Malcolm Sanders, age 87, 145 Reynolds Street, Apt 35, Oglethorpe, Georgia passed Monday, February, 2, 2015 at the Phoebe Sumter Hospital, Americus, Georgia.
The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon, Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, 201 Chatham Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Rev. Glenn Bryant, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, Georgia.
Mrs. Sanders was born October 16, 1927 to the late Lonzo Malcolm and Mary Kendrix of Simboro, Lincoln Parrish, Louisiana. She was married to the late Roosevelt Sanders, Sr., and to this union they were blessed with eight children. Roosevelt moved his family to Oglethorpe, Georgia around 1955 where she remained until her demise. She joined Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. G.G. McCarters, where she supported every facet of the church she loved so well. She loved her children and that love was reciprocated. She made sure that they knew their savior Jesus Christ by taking them to Sunday School.
Norvis was preceded in death by three children, Alfred Malcolm, Roosevelt Sanders, Jr. and Ernest sanders; two grandchildren, Kimberly Kendrick and LaNorris Miller; eight siblings, Ernest Malcolm Sr., Shelton Malcolm, Willie Malcolm, Lessie Malcolm Walsh, Alonzo D. Malcolm, Mary B. Malcolm Franklin, Otis Charles Malcolm, and Robert Malcolm; and daughter-in-law, Barbara M. Sanders.
She leaves a legacy of loving and many fond memories to her children: Wesley Jean Malcolm, Hampton, Georgia, Shirley S. Kendrick, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Marie Sanders (companion, Dale Love), Riverdale, Georgia, Earl Sanders, Hampton, Georgia, and Gracie Sanders, Oglethorpe, Georgia; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Betty Sanders, Lithonia, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Gaines, Oglethorpe, Georgia, Marie Spikes, Montezuma, Georgia, Agnes Wright (Larry), Maryland, Laura Ann Harris, Oglethorpe, Georgia; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends, including a devoted friend, C.T. Ford.
