
A wake service will be conducted from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, October 21, 2016 at the Meadows' Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, GA Highway 280 West, Americus, Georgia, where Reverend Ricky Cladd is pastor. Reverend Ellis Carswell, pastor of Central Baptist Church, Dublin, Georgia, will officiate. Interment will follow at 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 24, 2016 with military honors at Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, Georgia.
Anthony Joseph Holder was born November 2, 1968 in Saint Thomas, Virgin Island to Katherine Gibson Holder and the late Louis Alphonso Holder, Sr. He acquired his education in the public schools of Saint Thomas whereas he was a 1986 graduate of Charlotte Amalia High School. In 1986, he enlisted into the National Guards and served four years. In 1991, he enlisted into the United States Army. During his tenure, he was the recipient of several medals, badges, citations, and campaign ribbons, which included Army Achievement Medal (3rd Award), Army Lapel Button, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Sharpshooter Badge M-16, Riffle, Marksman Badge 9MM Pistol, Air Assault Badge, and Virgin Island National Guard Emergency Service Ribbon. After five years of dedicated service, he was honorably discharged May 29, 1995 as SPC/E4 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He was an active member of DAV (Disable Veterans).
During his working career, he was employed with the Sumter County Sherriff Department as a jailer for several years. Around 2000 he joined the staff of the Macon County Correctional Center of Oglethorpe, Georgia as a CO-2 and after four years he retired after his health began to decline.
On the 7th day of May 2000, Anthony married the lovely Carol Cladd and she became the better half of his life until his demise. They were blessed with one son, Jarrius Cladd. Anthony also accepted Jesus Christ in his life and joined the band of Christian believers at Inspiration By Faith under the leadership of the late Bishop John T. Taylor. Anthony served on the Deacon Board Ministry and Superintendent of Sunday School and was currently serving under the leadership of Elder Larry Taylor. Anthony had a great love for his Christian family and friends.
Survivors are a beloved wife of sixteen years, Carol Cladd Holder, Americus, Georgia; a loving and devoted son, Jarrius Cladd, Americus, Georgia; his mother, Katherine Gibson Holder, St. Thomas, Virgin, Island; his four siblings, Louis A. Holder, Jr. (Alnita), Orlando, Florida, Orson D. Holder (Tonya), New York, Patricia Holder Behrendsen, Madison, Georgia, and Blanche Holder, Leslie, Georgia; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Lillie Cladd, Americus, Georgia; his brothers-n-law and sisters-in-law, Robert D. Cladd, Jr. (Jennifer), Americus, Georgia, Glenda Newberry (Pastor Marvin Newberry), Tampa, Florida, Dexter Cladd (Tricia), Pastor Ricky Cladd (VaRonda) all of Americus, Georgia and Sibrena Cladd Laney (Torrance Laney, Sr.) Parrott, Georgia; and a host of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Including one best friend Sekou Richardson.
