Mother Quincy Mae Batchelor Hicks was born June 24, 1927 to the late John S. Batchelor and Minnie Jewel Greene Batchelor in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her two siblings, Luther Batchelor and Artelia Batchelor Tookes. At age 15, Quincy accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the membership of the William Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She served faithfully as secretary, usher and member of the Deaconess Ministry Board. To her great joy, Quincy became the Mother of William Grove Missionary Baptist Church on July 1, 2001.
In 1949, Quincy married Charlie A. Hicks. Together, they were blessed with six children. Her husband, Charlie and one son, Marion, preceded her in death. Quincy was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She lived her life to the fullest and could often be heard saying, “Let me go while I can go.” She blessed her family and friends with her loving and kind spirit. Quincy was often referred to as “Bad to the Bone.” She will be truly missed by her children, siblings, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
