Deacon Walker was born May 27, 1936 in Butler, Taylor County, Georgia to the late James Walker and Leila Black Walker. Deacon Walker was preceded in death by three siblings, Margaret Davis, Mary Hall and Mattie Thompson.
Deacon Walker grew up in a farming community, where God and family took precedent over everything else. He learned early in life his path of duty. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the band of Christian believers at Shelton Temple Church of God and Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Bell. After moving to Buena Vista, Georgia he became employed with the City of Buena Vista Sanitation Department where he diligently rendered his services for forty-two years and retired in 1997.
Deacon Walker was an upright and Christian man, who believed in God, the father. He was loved by his family, neighbors on Martin Luther King, Jr. Court, his friends on the jobs and the community at large.
Those he leaves to cherish his memories include: a loving and devoted niece who was reared as a sister to him, Virginia Hubbard, Cusseta, Georgia; a host of other beloved nieces and nephews including, Gary, Darrell and Bobby Hubbard; and a host of beloved cousins and friends.
